Will we ever learn?

If you are like me you have asked yourself that question a bazillon times. I sit in my office everyday and in one way or another I ask myself the question “Will we ever learn?” “Will we ever learn as a Church?” “Will I ever learn as a Pastor?” “Will I ever learn as a husband?” Will I ever learn as a dad?” “Will I ever learn to be a fearless leader?” “Will I ever learn to not care about what people think about my pulpit attire?” on and on and on I could go. But here is what I know…..We will not learn above our hunger and thirst for righteousness. Meaning…it’s not about will we ever learn, it’s about are we willing to learn? My confession to you is this…I am more willing to learn right now than I ever have been in my entire life. Why? because there is a lot at stake. It’s no different for you….there is a lot at stake. There may be a son or daughter watching you, there may be a church watching you, there may be a lost person watching you. Listen to me…Wake up everyday tie your shoes and count the cost. Be willing to learn, advance, influence change, make a difference for the Cross. Will you? depends if you are willing to learn.

What is God looking for?

Have you ever asked yourself that question concerning ministry? I have, many times. Does God want someone who is loud? Does God want someone with a certain look? Does God want someone with a certain personality trait? Does God want someone with money? Does God want someone with tons of free time? Does God want….Does God want… the list is endless. Here is what God showed me this morning. God just wants a vessel….No specifics…just someone willing to do HIS work. He is just looking for somebody to go out and live a life that has Jesus written all over it. So you may not be loud, or funny, or rich, or even have lots of time, but you have the one thing God wants…..YOU, the vessel… and we can offer that every day. So as you go through the day just be you….just be the vessel God created you to be…be willing…be ready…be confident in Christ.

Youth Ministry is the place to be…..

So last night I had one of those flash back moments. A moment where I rememberedexactly how weds. nights felt. I was watching our Youth Ministry team getting ready for the nights services, and I had one of those moments where you take it all in at once. I could hear the teenagers in the gym, I could see the teenagers outside runnin around, the music was cranked, youth leaders were going from place to place getting things ready. It all was about to come together in just a few short moments….and that is when I reminded myself of something……There is no one that can do the job our youth leaders do, they are the best. They come in from work, and they get right back to work…… but they are not working for a dollar they are working for the Kingdom of God. Youth Leaders your work is eternal, don’t ever try to gauge it on this earth, one day you will find out exactly how many lives you changed through “The Gathering” so just keep working, never get tired, never give up. Parents need you, teenagers need you, Sinclair Baptist Church needs you. Great job “Gathering and 56″ leaders keep fightin’….

THE WORD OF GOD…..

I have been doing a study on Weds. nights about studying the Bible. Not only studying the Bible, but holding it as the complete Word of God in which we are to measure our life. So in the introduction to this study we opened our Bibles to II Kings 22 and looked at an 8 year old King, Josiah, he was a good King, he lived a good life as you can read in 1-7 Josiah took care of the temple, he looked after the kingdom, there is no doubt about it Josiah was a good guy. But something happened the Word of God was found in the temple. It had been lost and forgotten for a very long time. So the Word of God was found and read to Josiah 8-10. And when the word was read to Josiah, his life changed 11-14. And after the measured his life to the Word of God and realized he fell far short his life was changed. What did he do next? after hearing of he punishment he would never see in 15-20 he then gathered all the people and shared the book 23:1-3. This is an incredible picture of what was to come for you and me. Think about it……Think about your life….pretty good person, but when you measured your life to the Word of God and realized you fell far short you humbled yourself accepted Christ as Savior, realized the punishment that you would never have to see, and what did you do next. You began to share the Word of God with those around you. WOW……. Form an 8 year old King to You an Me God’s Word needs to be the standard of our life and our character. And God’s Word needs to be shared.

This just happened !!!!!!

So I was out in the gym watching the older grades play volleyball for P.E. and there were doing pretty good, the volley was over and they were throwing the ball back over to the other team. It was one of those throws that went to the ceiling the other team was goofing around not really paying attention to the ball, so the ball climbs high to the top of the rafters and then begins it’s drop. When the ball began to drop it had a student in it’s cross-hairs. Down it falls and smack, right on the head……..everyone laughing, the student was fine laughed right along. But it got me thinking about something. Many times that is what Satan is counting on for us……goofing around, having a good time, hangin out with our friends, and not paying attention to what is about to smack us in the face. Remember bloggers, be vigilant, be sober, for Satan is waiting to smack you right upside the head.

Okay just for you faithful readers of this blog I want to give you a glimpse into this Sunday. There has been some commotion over the topic “Going Green” some have asked why I would bring worldly topics into the church. Well, we are the church shouldn’t we be the ones setting the standard of Society? in fact “Going Green is actually Biblical, look at Genesis 1:28 a covenant was made with God and man concerning the care of this earth. We are to replenish the earth and subdue it. But in “Going Green” we are going to focus on the 3 R’s of the “Going Green” movement.

1. Reduce

2. Reuse

3.Recycle

If we do those things in are Christian walk God will do extra-ordinary things in our personal life. So while many folks are wondering my angle I will tell ya’ll my angle JESUS CHRIST so be in prayer for the Sunday as we look at “Going Green” and the effects it has on our planet.
